Kenneth A. Richard
1932 - 2014
Kenneth Richard, 82, of Parma passed away at a Boise Nursing Home, Friday, June 20, 2014. He was born in Sabetha, Kansas, the third and youngest son of Perle and Florence Richard. When Kenneth was 3, he moved with his family to Nyssa, Oregon. They lived there briefly before settling on the farm north of Parma, Idaho, where he remained until March of 2014.
Kenneth's mother taught him how to cook, clean, and do laundry. His father and brothers taught him to farm. In the winters, Kenneth worked at Amalgamated Sugar Company in Nyssa, Oregon. When he wasn't working on his farm, his brother, Johnnie, kept him busy with his custom farming business. Kenneth's biggest enjoyment was family gatherings. Though he was in a nursing home, he continued to join the extended family on all the special occasions and was always happy to fill in the nurses when he returned with stories about the family and all the good food he had eaten.
Kenneth is survived by his brother Johnnie Richard of Parma, and his brother and sister-in-law, Nolan and Gladys Richard of Lynnwood, Washington. He is also survived by 4 nieces, Pamela (Al) Stanley, Yvonne (Steve) Taylor, Zelma Wells of Boise, ID, and Debra (Irwin) Brooks of Mapleton, UT; and 3 nephews, Michael (Vickey) Richard of Parma, ID, Rodney (Patty) Richard of Everett, WA, and Douglas (Shannon) Richard of Marysville, WA. He is also survived by 14 great-nieces and nephews and 15 great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Perle and Florence Richard, a sister-in-law, Yoshiko Richard, and a nephew, Sydney Richard.
Funeral services are under the direction of the Haren-Wood Funeral Chapel in Ontario, Oregon. The funeral will be held Wednesday, June 25, at 10:00 am at the New Life Christian Church, 404 N. 3rd Street, Nyssa, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in the name of Kenneth A.
