Ricky Dale Pence, 54, of 372 Sweetberry Lane in Broadway, passed in peace on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at Sentara RMH Medical Center in Harrisonburg.

Mr. Pence was born Mar. 2, 1959 in Harrisonburg and was the son of Gifford E. Pence and Sue (Millie) Reynolds.

He was a heavy equipment operator at Perry Engineering in Harrisonburg, and was a member of the New Market Fraternal Order of Eagles.

He is survived by his parents, Gifford and Paula Pence of Stanley, and Ottis and Sue Reynolds of Broadway; wife, Adora Kipps Pence of Broadway; four children, Benjy Eye of San Francisco and Dustin Pence, Ricky L. Pence and Molly Pence of Broadway; brother, Randy Pence and sister, Kathy McDorman of Broadway; step brothers, Michael Reynolds of Timberville and Dyllon Pence of Stanley; step sisters, Deborah Estep Reynolds of Harrisonburg, Crystal Grandstaff of Harrisonburg and Dezaray Pence of Stanley; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Rick was known throughout the area for his exceptional musical ability, singing and drumming with the Goodtime Outlaws, Dixie Bound and Diamondback bands and a frequent karaoke performer. His music brought joy to many, and his gentle spirit and giving heart was a blessing to all who knew him. He passed following a hard-fought battle with lung cancer.

Pastor Bruce Kipps will conduct the funeral at 2 p.m Friday at New Market Seventh-day Adventist Church.

Burial will follow at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church cemetery in New Market.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m - 8 p.m. Thursday at Theis Funeral Chapel in New Market.
