Margaret's early years were focused on working within the Los Angeles Unified School District where she was a Special Education assistant and provided after school enrichment programs for the students by directing various plays and performances. She was very active in PTA and volunteer efforts for the enrichment of the students. After her last child finished elementary school, she moved into the baking industry and worked her remaining career as an assistant manager.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marjorie Petersen. Survivors include her husband of more than 45 years David Dawson; children Timothy Dawson, Jennifer (Geoffrey) Curtis, Miri (Kevin) Caldwell and Christine (Dwane) Ferry and six beautiful grandchildren.
