Wanda B. Chiara passed away at her residence at the age of 79. She was born to Lloyd and Omie Faye Bobo. She attended school in Fort Worth, TX. Wanda moved to North Battle Mountain while working as a telegraph operator for the Union Pacific Railroad. She married Robert "Bob" E. Chiara on November 24, 1946 in Battle Mountain. After they were married, they bought and moved to the Chiara Ranch. While ranching, she also worked at the Battle Mountain General Hospital as a cook, then chief dietitian and head of the kitchen. She retied after 20 years in 1986. After 45 years of ranching, they retired and moved near Battle Mountain. The moved to Ontario, OR in September of 2001 to be close to family. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sister, Juanita Chapman, Lavada Shaw and Ovella and Dorothy Bobo. She is survived by her son, Louis Chiara (Mary) of Ontario, Or, daughter, Jo Fay Urrutia (Duane) of Battle Mountain; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
