OBIT # 1600 – HALIFAX HERALD – 2 AUG. 2000
HALVERSON, Helen Clara - 68, Welsford Street, Pictou, died Tuesday, August 1, 2000, in the
Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Alder Point, she was a daughter of Mary Louise
(MacNeil), Alder Point and the late Ivan Deveaux. Helen enjoyed flea markets and collecting
antiques especially dolls. In her leisure time she loved to attend bingo, bowl and was an associate
member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 16, Pictou. She will be greatly missed by family
and friends and will be remembered as a wonderful mother and wife. She is survived by sons,
Brian (Carol), Mississauga, Ont.; Bruce (Pam), Windsor; Richard (Marlena), Durham; Ron
(Cindy), Pictou; John (Michelle), Georgetown, Ont.; Paul, Pictou; daughter, Sharon Stanley,
Green Hill; grandchildren, Richard, Shalegh, Eric, Nathan, Sam, Ashley, Sarah, Meaghan, Iain,
Kaliegh, Tonya, Christopher, Kyle; two step great-grandchildren; brothers, Francis, Sydney
Mines; Sheldon and Greg, Alder Point. She was predeceased by her husband, George; brother,
Glenn. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. this evening in
McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday in Stella Maris
Catholic Church, Pictou, Rev. Peter MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery.
