Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at St. Aloysius Catholic Church for Leo F. Kappell of Kaukauna. He died at his home on Saturday at 56 after a one year illness.
Born in Kaukauna on November 7, 1917, Kappell had been employed at Thilmany Pulp and Paper company. With his father, Wally, he had also operated Wally's Tavern in Kaukauna for many years. He was active in sponsoring girls' softball teams in the city over a period of years. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and of the Quarter Century club at Thilmany's. He was also a member of VFW Post 3319 at Kaukauna.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Kim Ann; a son, Kenneth L.; three brothers, Sylvester, Lawrence and Clifford, all of Kaukauna; a sister, Mrs. Eugene (Bernice) Peeters of Little Chute.
Father Donald Fuller will officiate and entombment will be at the Star of Hope Mausoleum, Appleton. Greenwood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was the son of Walter and Bardine (Heiting) Kappell.
He enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 17, 1941 and was honorably discharged.
Leo married Mildred Amelia Orsini in Nov. 1945.
