"He was a great Criminal lawyer, and one of the greatest reformers Canada ever had. He was appointed Queen's Council under Queen Victoria, and King's Council under King Edward VII. His law office and residence were in St. Thomas, Canada. In 1866 he was married to Catherine Rose, sister of Alexander Rose, M.A., L.L.D. of Alma College. Two children were born, Colin A. and Maud. Colin McDougall died October 25, 1901 and was buried at St. Thomas, Alderborough Township, Elgin County, Ontario, Canada."
