Services for Bennet Griffin, 64-year-old ranch hand who had worked on various ranches surrounding Havre during his lifetime, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the Holland and Bonine funeral home.

Mr. Griffin apparently died during the night or early morning of Aug. 20, when he was found dead at the Jack Lines ranch in the Clear Creek community where he was employed.

Born in Havre, Mr. Griffin enlisted Oct. 6, 1917, in the U.S. Army and took part in the battle of Argonne forest, Nov. 4-11, 1918. He was a private in Battery F, 348 FA, according to his papers of honorable discharge.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Griffin, deceased, old-timers in the Havre vicinity, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Bud Spencer, Chinook, Mrs. Tom R. Cole, Great Falls, and Della, Kalispell; and brothers, Tom Griffin, Shambo, and Frank Griffin, Columbia Falls.

Former servicemen of this area are arranging military cemetery rites for the World War I veteran.
