*Note: Washington's Farewell Address was printed by David C. Claypoole's American Daily Advertiser (Philadelphia), on 19 September 1796. Neither the proof sheet that Claypoole made for Washington's examination nor the copy that Claypoole worked from in making the proof sheet has been found.

Two days after its signing, the Pennsylvania Packet and Daily Advertiser printed the entire text of the Constitution in its issue dated Wednesday, September 19, 1787. John Dunlap and David C. Claypoole were publishers of the Packet at the time. Both men alternated as official printers to the Continental Congress.

Dunlap and Claypoole printed the revised Articles to include all notations and changes made since the 12 July printing.

David was a Lieut in 1781, 5th Reg't Fort Penn, Militia Col. James Reed's Reg't and ensign of Capt. Hoad's Company under Col. Wm. B. Bradford.

David and I are second cousins seven times removed. While not a direct ancestor I am none the less honored to have a family connection to this man. Thank you cousin and rest in peace.
