Rev. Shirley E. Hutchins, a devoted servant of the Lord, went home on June 19, 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio. After growing up in Knoxville, TN, and graduating from East Tennessee State University, she was called to seminary and has served in West Virginia, North Carolina, and most recently, Ohio. She spent most of her time here on earth helping others, and enjoyed ministry immensely- "seeing the hand of God in the midst of the ordinary". She was an excellent cook, creative soul who was great at sewing, quilting, and decorating just about anything. Shirley embodied the love and grace the Bible teaches, and credits her family for the gift of growing up in church and a happy home.

She was preceded in death by her father, Gordon S. Hutchins.

Shirley is survived and will be tremendously missed by so many, especially her mother, Sue Hutchins; brothers, David A. (Kim) Hutchins, Jeff (Robin) Hutchins; sister, Nancy (Randy) Brock; precious nieces and nephews, Courtney, Alex, Suddy, Brooke, Cole, Chase, Chris, Morgan and Sam; caregiver and dear friend, Barb Davis; friends, Lois Young, Pam Stith, Rev. Elizabeth Forester, Ron Edmond; and faithful four-legged companion, Noel.

Shirley's services in Knoxville will be held at Fountain City Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 26th, The family will Receive Friends from 6-7 pm and the Celebration of Life will begin at 7 pm, with the Rev. Darryl Baker officiating. A Graveside Service is scheduled at 11 am on Friday, June 27th at Highland Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Sycamore Presbyterian Church (designate: "kitchen fund"), 11800 Mason Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45249; or the American Cancer Society. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Hutchins family.
