Neal Carlisle Reed, age 78, husband of Shirley Mae
Goodspeed Reed, passed on June 16, 2014 at Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, Florida. Neal was a retired
Accountant and a strong Patriot. Born in Hall Quarry, on Mount Desert Island, Maine, he was the son of Archie Gerald and Catherine Margaret Higgins Reed. Neal was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout for many years, and a noted baseball and basketball player in high school. He served four years in the Maine Air National Guard and four years in the U.S. Air Force. Neal graduated second in his class from Husson University in Bangor, Maine. He devoted many years to managing his sons' youth baseball and basketball teams. He was also a devoted mechanic and carpenter for his daughter during her single adult years. In recent years, he enjoyed his grandchildren, scrabble, traveling, friends, neighbors, NASCAR, golf, and the Tampa Bay Rays.
Neal and Shirley moved to the Villages, Florida, in 2000. Neal was known to say often, "It's a beautiful day in the Villages". Survivors include his wife of 59 years, daughter Terry Neale and husband Chris of Landenburg, PA, son Garry and wife Theresa of Lake Mary, FL, and son David and wife Amy of Orlando, FL. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Cameron, Rachel, Rebekkah, and CJ, and by three siblings, Gilbert Reed and wife Marie of Carmel, ME, Allan Reed and wife Carol of N. Attleboro, MA, and Nancy Chase of Williamstown, VT, as well as brother-in law Roscoe Tibbetts.

Neal was predeceased by his parents, brother Doug, sisters Tharon, Chris, Lois, Connie, and Connie's daughter Donna, and by his grandson Casey Reed.
Memories of Neal's life may be shared at Beyers Funeral Home, 134 N. Hwy 27, Lady Lake, FL, on Saturday June 21, with a Viewing at 10:00 AM and Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be on Monday June 23 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL at 11:00 AM. Family and friends will meet at 10:00 AM at Beyers Funeral Home for the processional to the Cemetery.
