Joe was an organized crime figure in the Boston underworld, was associated with Joseph Kennedy and Meyer Lansky. He lived a lavish lifestyle in Bookline, MA next door to the Kennedy's. He held interests in race tracks, and liquor businesses. He became a prominent businessman and philanthropist, donating millions to local MA institutions and Brandeis University, where the "Joseph M Linsey Sports Center" is located.
