Born in Russia, his family immigrated to the US and he grew up in Boston, MA. His father died when Joe was 9. To help the family, Joe began delivering groceries, and later became an apprentice meatcutter. When Prohibition began, Joe at 21, began bootlegging liquor, with Charles "King" Solomon through a "front business" National Realty Co. Joe was an organized crime figure in the Boston underworld, was associated with Joseph Kennedy and Meyer Lansky. He lived a lavish lifestyle in Bookline, MA next door to the Kennedy's. He held interests in race tracks, and liquor businesses. He became a prominent businessman and philanthropist, donating millions to local MA institutions and Brandeis University, where the "Joseph M Linsey Sports Center" is located. Joe died in Faulkner Hospital, Boston, MA, of heart failure. RIP, you were a Kindly, generous and loving family patriarch of the Linsey Family.
