DEATH CLAIMS EX-MIDVALE CIVIC FIGURE

Harry (Roy) Martin Nicholson, 72, of 47 Lincoln St., Midvale, retired employee of the Salt Lake Tribune, died of natural causes Thursday in a Fort Worth, Texas, hospital.
Mr. Nicholson worked as a distributor for the Tribune from 1927 until his retirement in January, 1966.
He was a former president of the Midvale Lions Club and a member of the Midvale Kiwanis Club. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Mr. Nicholson had served as Sunday School superintendent of the Midvale First Ward for 17 years, and was a counselor in the ward bishopric.
Mr. Nicholson was born July 18, 1893, in Hillham, Indiana, a son of Joe and Viola McCune Nicholson. He married Margaret Myrl Cheever Feb. 23, 1923. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Survivors include his widow and three daughters, Mrs. James (Evelyn) Vaughan, Fort Worth; Mrs. Dorothy Bloomdale and Mrs. Vaughan (Viola) Fairbanks, both of Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, and a sister, Agnes Carillio, Hayward, California.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in the Midvale First LDS Ward Chapel, 465 Sixth Ave. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday prior to services. Burial will be in Midvale City Cemetery.
