Mr. Pate was born March 21, 1949 in Plant City, FL. He and his family moved to Lakeland in 1983. Mr. Pate was an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Army where he was awarded the Purple Heart three times during his tours in Vietnam. He attended Heartland Community Church in Winter Haven.
Mr. Pate is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Carol Pate; his son, Jason Pate and his wife, Courtney; grandson, Justin Pate; and granddaughter, Charlee Pate.
The Pate family will receive friends Friday, June 20, 2014, from 6-8 p.m. at Lakeland Funeral Home at 2125 South Bartow Highway in Lakeland. A celebration of his life will be conducted Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Wayne Evans will officiate. The Pate family requests that attendees dress in shorts or jeans instead of dress clothes. Interment will follow at Church of Christ Cemetery in Eagle Lake.
