Ernest E. Bowlby, 79, of Morris Park, Lopatcong Township, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the Care Center of Lopatcong.
Born: Ernest was born in Hampton, NJ on March 7, 1935 to the late Earle and Olive Banghart Bowlby.
Personal: Ernest was in Maintenance at the former Nitta Casing of Somerville, NJ. He was a graduate at North Hunterdon Regional High School and served in the US Army. Ernest enjoyed bowling for different leagues in the area.
Memberships: Ernest was a member of Pilgrim Presbyterian Church in Lopatcong Township, NJ; the Exchange Club of Phillipsburg, of which he was on the board of directors; the Healthy Heart Club; and was an exempt fireman with the Hampton Fire Department.
Survivors: Ernest is survived by his wife, Lois Hill Bowlby, with whom he would have celebrated 41 years this August; sons, John L. Bowlby of Hackettstown, NJ and Keith D. Bowlby of Breinigsville, PA ; daughter, Mary Ellen Johnson of CT; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lois Turyonas.
He was predeceased by a son, Dale L. Bowlby; daughter-in-law, Sherri Bowlby; a grandson, Robert James Bowlby; and a brother, Raymond Bowlby.
Services: Funeral Services will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 at 11 am at the Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Pkwy; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865. A Visitation of family and friends will be held from 10 am until service time at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Musconetcong Valley Cemetery; Hampton, NJ.
