Funeral Service will be held at 10:30am, Tuesday, June 17th, 2014, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Herington, with Pastor Bill Peterson officiating; burial will follow at the Sunset Hill Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday, June 16th from 7pm until 8pm at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home & Crematory, Herington Chapel.
Mr. Albrecht was a retired Postmaster at the Herington Post Office, and he was a farmer stockman. He started working for the post office on December 11, 1965; and he was Postmaster from April 4, 1984, until March 24, 1989. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. He served a Morris County Commissioner. He enjoyed sports, bowling over 50 years, Square Dancing, and playing cards (pitch & pinochle). He graduated from Herington High School with the class of 1942.
He married Gladys P. Gantenbein on August 8, 1948, at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, she survives. He is also survived by two (2) sons: Keith Albrecht (wife-Julie) of Herington, and Kenneth Albrecht (wife-Nancy), five (5) grandchildren, and nine (9) great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his daughter Phyllis Minge (01/13/1997), three (3) brothers (Harry, Paul, Clemens), and two (2) sisters (Elda Hartke & Adelia Schlesener.
