LYNDON CENTER.
A Golden Wedding.
One of the pleasantest gatherings ever
held in this village was held last Saturday
afternoon and evening, when about 40 of
their neighbors met at the home of
Mr. ard Mrs. Orson Stone to celebrate
the fiftieth anniversary of their wedding.
Mrs Stone wore a dress of changeable
blue and gold silk the same which she
wore 50 years ago when she was a bride.
In behalf of their friends, Rev. W. H.
Lyster presented them with $50 in gold,
which was a gift of their son, Mason S.
Stone, now of Manila, dining chairs from
their son Mark, a chair from their
daughter, Mrs. Van Burke of Barton Landing,
and a chair and several other gifts from
their neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Stone
responded in a feeling manner, after which
the party adjourned to the dining room,
where a bountiful supper was served, the
occasion being a surprise to Mr. and Mrs.
Stone. Mrs. Stone's maiden name was
Miss Candace Mason. They were married
in Stowe, Vt., by the Rev. Mr. Pier.
After stopping a few months with Mr.
Stone's parents, they moved to Lowell,
Vt., where they lived for several years.
Since then they have lived at Waterbury
Centre, Morrisville and Westfield, moving
to Lyndon Centre about six years
ago. Six children were born to them,
namely, Elmer Stone, who lives in Colorado,
Leland Stone of Burke, N Y.,
Mrs. Jennie Burke of Barton Landing,
Mason S. Stone of the Philippine Islands,
Mrs. Delia Sisco, who died about five
years ago at Mansonville, P. Q., and
Mark Stone, who resides here. That Mr.
and Mrs. Stone have made many friends
here was proven Saturday, and the
company departed in the early evening,
leaving a host of good wishes for the future
health and prosperity of the pair who
have lived such a long and useful life.
