Her parents married on March 14, 1889 and became the parents of 13 children. The oldest William Barden Mellette died at only 2 months of age.Larkin Jennings was only 2 years old at his death and little daughter, Esther Anne was 3 years old when death came to her. One of her older siblings William Wheeler Mellette, Jr lived to enjoy his teenage years.
