A memorial Mass will be celebrated Feb. 1 for Ann E. Bowman of Veneta and Eugene, who died Jan. 26 of ovarian cancer. She was 51.

Bowman was born Aug. 1, 1954, in Winfield, Kan., to Vincent and Wilma Link Bowman.

She lived in Emporia, Kan., from 1959 to 1978, graduating from Emporia High School in 1972. She received a bachelor's degree in elementary education from Emporia State University in 1978. She worked as an elementary teacher in Kansas City, Kan., from 1978 to 1982. She worked for Houlihan's Restaurant in Kansas City from 1982 to 1992, then moved to Washington, D.C., and worked for the Houlihan's chain in Springfield, Va., and Chevy Chase, Md. She worked as a human resources coordinator for Deloitt and Touche in Washington, D.C., in 1998-99, then moved to Seattle, where she was a human resources contractor. She moved to Bellingham, Wash., in 2000, and worked as a human resources specialist for Etera, Inc.

Bowman moved to Eugene in November 2001. She was active in the Ovarian Cancer Support Group in Eugene for four years. She enjoyed floral design, gardening, hiking, biking, golf, yoga, music, zydeco dancing, travel and spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her father and stepmother, Vincent and Helen Bowman of Emporia; a brother, Joe Bowman of Eugene; and a sister, Mary Ellen Force of Slidell, La.

Wednesday's service will be at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church in Eugene.

Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Feb. 11 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Emporia. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Feb. 11 in Calvary Cemetery in Burlington, Kan.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Sacred Heart in Eugene or Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, 910 17th St. N.W., Suite 413, Washington, DC 20006.
