David Kirkland, age 62, of Douglas, GA passed away on Monday, June 16, 2014 at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, FL following an extended illness. Mr. Kirkland was born November 8, 1951 in Macon, GA to Eula White Kirkland and the late John Smith Kirkland.

Survivors include his wife, Christine Kirkland of Douglas, GA, two daughters, Tara Kirkland Inman of Rome, GA and Rachael Amanda Kirkland of Douglas, GA, two stepdaughters, Caitlyn G. Martin of Athens, TN and Kendra L. Martin of Ambrose, GA, son David McClary Kirkland of Lexington, VA, mother, Eula White Kirkland of Rome, GA, brother, John S. Kirkland, M.D., of Rome, GA, six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, John S. Kirkland.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 20, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church. Memorial services will be held Friday, June 20, 2014 at 2:00 p.m at First Baptist Church with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Music is furnished for the service by Angie O'Steen "Another Soldier Is Coming Home" and Dr. Diskin Morgan "Without Him" and "Sheltered in the Arms of God" with Sonya Hendley playing the piano. Sims Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
