Lonnie Edward Hayes, Sr. 72, of Elizabethtown died Saturday at Hardin Memorial Hospital. A native of Spring Lick, KY, he was a retired Tile Setter of 40 years and a member Fairfield Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by a wife, Norita (Henderson) Hayes; three sons, Rocky, Gary, and Eddie Hayes; a daughter, Tammy Hayes Spencer, a sister, Bertha Elder, and three brothers, Frank, Herbert, and Leaston Hayes.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Dale Hayes, two daughters, Sue Kelly of Lebanon Junction and Debbie Griffin of Elizabethtown, four sons, Wayne Hayes of Louisville, Danny Hayes of Irvington, David Hayes of Younger's Creek and Max Griffin of North Carolina, two sisters, Naomi Terrance and Dorothy Williams both of Louisville, three brothers, Charlie Hayes of Elizabethtown, Bobby and Roy Hayes both of Louisville, 33 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11am Tuesday in the chapel of Dixon-Atwood & Trowbridge Funeral Home with Rev. Ernest Smothers and Rev. Marvin Dotson officiating. Burial will be in the Hayes and Carroll family cemetery in Grayson County.
