ELIZABETH "ANNIE" HENDRIX 9/8/1939 – 6/16/2014
We give thanks for having the opportunity to have known and loved Annie for many years. We especially remember the ways in which Annie loved us! Annie touched the lives of many through her teaching for 44 years at Powell Elementary School and through her ministry to generations of children at Grace Baptist Church for 46 years. Annie was a faithful member at Grace Baptist Church for 74 years. Annie lived her life with passion and energy and with an attitude of sharing her life with thousands of people. Annie was cherished by her family and by those who were especially close to her. She became known as "Grannie Annie" when the next generation of children came to know her same loving kindness as so many others had through the years before. Annie supported children all around the world in the SmileTracn Organization through monthly donations and letters. Annie is preceded in death by her mother, Deola Hendrix and father, Leroy "Papaw" Hendrix. She leaves behind her brother, Mike (Georgia) Hendrix ; nephews, Michael (Ann) Hendrix of Newman, GA and Joe (Lolly) Hendrix of Cleveland, TN; great-nephews, Jared Hendrix of North Pole, Alaska and Chris Hendrix of Old Fort, TN; great-nieces, Lauren Brod of Cleveland, TN and Amy May of Sanford, N.C.; great-great-nieces, Lolly Brod of Cleveland, TN and Maggie Hendrix of Old Fort, TN; great-great-nephew, William Brod of Cleveland, TN and many cherished close friends. Her body will lie in state 2-4 pm Saturday at Grace Baptist Church and the family will receive friends 4-6 pm with the service to follow. Dr. Ron Stewart and Rev. Darrell Wright officiating.
