Kristi Leigh Jensen, 39, of Lantry, SD, entered the Spirit World on Monday, June 9, 2014 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
A one-night wake will begin at 5:00 PM, Sunday, June 15, 2014 at St. John's Episcopal Church at Eagle Butte. Prayer services will begin at 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 AM, Monday, June 16, at the C-EB Auditorium, with the Rev. Byron Buffalo, UCC Pastor officiating. Burial will be at the Lantry Community Cemetery.
Kristi Leigh Jensen ~was born February 27, 1975 in Eagle Butte SD, to Lloyd Jensen Sr. & Diana "LaPlante" Jensen. Kristi Leigh Grew up on the family ranch South of Lantry. She attended K-4th Grade at Lantry Day School. She also attended school in Aberdeen, and Tennessee where she stayed with her aunty Patsy LaPlante-Harper & Family to whom she held very close to her heart. Kristi graduated from Dupree High School Class of 1993.
After High School Kristi traveled to several places and stayed with family & friends. During her travels she stayed with her Uncle JR LaPlante, in Minnesota for a short time. She then decided to come home where she remained and worked various jobs.
Her father Lloyd then taught her the cattle & ranch life. Away from the ranch she spent a lot of her time down at her mother's salon, where she would catch up with her loving family on a daily basis…especially her Grandparents Leroy & Toni LaPlante, whom she also loved with all her heart.
In 2000 Kristi began her career in Law Enforcement as a Juvenile Detention Officer. On February 27, 2003 she graduated from FLETC Indian Police Academy in Artesia, NM. Kristi spent 13 years in Law Enforcement, where she attended numerous trainings for her career of choice.
Kristi was known for her beautiful spirit and big heart, with a love for everything in this world.
She was very sociable and got along with everyone she met. She also had a good sense of humor and loved to laugh. She always carried a big smile on her face wherever she went. She was an awesome caretaker taking in her loved ones and numerous animals.
Kristi took on her big sister role not only to her own siblings but also cousins and a lot of special friends, everyone, anyone who knew her knew the amazing and kind hearted, loving person she was. She was also blessed with two beautiful nieces Kamari Star & Lieryn Lloyd Jensen. She loved them with all her heart and was very proud of her aunty status. She also raised one special cousin Bohdi Jak LaPlante. Family & Friends of Kristi will miss her smile, comforting way and beautiful spirit.
Kristi enjoyed spending time with family and friends taking time out to enjoy life. She loved the outdoors including camping, fishing, riding horse, working cattle, riding 4-wheelers, cookouts or just sitting back and watching the kids play. One thing Kristi really enjoyed was holidays especially the 4th of July where she always planned something extravagant. Kristi also loved Christmas because she loved to feel the joy of seeing her loved ones happy.
Kristi will forever be missed by her mother Diana LaPlante Jensen (Gary Washum), Special friend Miranda "Randi" Marshall, Sister Kathi Jensen (Kellee Moran), Brother Tate Jensen (Sunrise Runs After), Nieces Kamari Star and Lieryn Lloyd, Adopted sons Jasper Lee Hill and Sidney Dean Morgan, Special cousin Bohdi Jak LaPlante and a very special uncle Lauren Jensen.
