Found in The State 21 January 1968: Muller O. J. Kreps III, former assistant clerk of the S. C. House of Representatives and one time administrative assistant of former Gov. Ernest F. Hollings, died today at his home, apparent victim of a heart ailment. He was 41. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Michael's and All Angels Episcopal Church. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Mr. Kreps was born in Columbia to Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Duncan Kreps and the late M. O. J. Kreps Jr. He lived in Columbia at 4766 Reamer Ave. He attended the Columbia City Schools and was graduated from the University of South Carolina and the USC School of Law with degrees in business administration and law. He had returned to private practice in 1964 after several years in governmental service. He was assistant clerk in the House of Representatives from 1952 until 1958, when he was named Holling' executive secretary after the gubernatorial election. In 1962 Mr. Kreps was named Richland County clerk of court. He resigned in 1964. During World War II Mr. Kreps had served in the U. S. Navy in the Aleutian Islands and the South Pacific and was recalled as a lieutenant during the Korean War. He had serviced as Judge Advocate of the S. C. Department of Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary Nell Campbell Kreps of Columbia and formerly of Camden; four children, Allyson, Sally, Muller O. J. IV, and Campbell Kenneth Kreps; his mother, and a brother, Jack Kreps of Georgia. Dunbar Funeral Home is in charge. Members of the Richland County Bar Association will be in attendance at the funeral.
