Eva C Mathis dies

Mrs Eva C Mathis, 71, of Ely died suddenly at her home Friday of a heart attack.

Mrs Mathis was born Aug 13, 1903 in Junction, Utah to Peter Jessen and Martina Mortensen Jessen.

She was educated in the Utah schools.

She was a 50-year resident of the White Pine County area.

On May 14, 1932 she married Henry Alphred Mathis in Kingman, Ariz.

She was a housewife and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxillary and the Ely First Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Among her survivors are: A daughter Mrs Francis Taets, Geneseo, Ill; a nephew, Elden Jessen, Sterling, Va; two brothers, John L Jessen, Richfield, Utah and Neldon P Jessen Glenwood, Utah; plus four grandchildren. A daughter, Bernice Ann Mathis preceded her in death.

A funeral will be held at 2 pm Friday in the Wilson-Bates Mortuary Chapel with Bishop Lewis Sandberg presiding.

There will be a visitation at the mortuary from 7-9 pm Thursday.

Burial will be in the Ely City Cemetery.

Married Henry Alford Mathis 14 May 1932.
