Services for Mr. Harold Alexander Hedrick, 53, of Beckley, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Calfee Chapel with the Rev. Friedrich Schilling in charge. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Hedrick died Monday at 8:15 p.m. in a local hospital after a long illness. Mr. Hedrick was born April 8. 1924 in Beckley, the son of the late Grover Hedrick and Ethel Fink Hedrick. He served as a battlefield medic with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Hedrick was an employe of the Department of Agriculture for the past 14 years and was assistant officer-in-charge of the food stamp office in Beckley. He was a member of the Beckley Presbyterian Church and Beckley Elks Lodge. Surviving are his wife. Velma Johnson Hedrick, at home; three sons. Harold Alexander Jr., Howard Phillip and Hugh Dennis, all of Beckley; one daughter, Sarah Amanda, at home; three brothers, Grover C. Hedrick, M.D. and John A. Hedrick. M.D., both of Beckley, and Tom A. Hedrick, M.D. of Johnstown, Pa.; and two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Ruth) Tully of Beckley and Mrs. Joe (Macie) Shank of Huntington and a granddaughter, Stacy Michelle. He was preceded in death by his brother, Oppie and his sister. Anna Lee Campbell, both of Beckley. Pallbearers will be Ira Holliday, Emmett Hurt, M. T. Rimmer, Elvin Bailey, Jim Sweeter and Otis Kinder. (Newspaper obituary)
