Ann M., wife of Hunting P. Ackert, died this morning [Friday, July 7, 1899] at her home, 6 Freeman avenue, aged 71 years and nine months. She had been an invalid for several years, but had been more comfortable than usual this summer till a week ago Thursday night, when she suffered a stroke of apoplexy. She never spoke again and was conscious only a part of the time.
Mrs. Ackert's maiden name was Ann M. Howland. She was born in North Adams, and most of her life was passed in Adams and this city [North Adams], she having lived here for the past 14 years. She had been a member of the Methodist church for many years and was an estimable and highly respected woman. She leaves besides her husband two sons and two daughters, William and Daniel Ackert of this city, Mrs. Thomas Brown of Adams and Mrs. Carrie Howland of Elba, N.Y. She also leaves a brother and a sister, Shubael W. Howland of Nashville, Tenn., and Mrs. Frances E. Wells of Adams.
The funeral will be held at the house Sunday afternoon at 1.15 o'clock, Rev. J. A. Hamilton officiating, and the burial will be at Adams.
