Lewis Roy Wood, 71, of Huguley died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in Huguley.

The funeral was Friday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with the Revs. Samuel Wood, Jackie Taylor and Mark Dickinson officiating. Burial followed at Shawmut Cemetery.

Born May 3, 1943, in Alabama, Mr. Wood was the son of the late Florrie Wood and the late Billy Wood. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Marine Corps. Mr. Wood was a humorous and witty individual, truly one of a kind. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. Mr. Wood was known for wearing his trademark bandana. He was a member of Roger Heights Baptist Church.

Mr. Wood is survived by his children, Jenny Lynn and Jon Martin of West Point and the Rev. Samuel and Larisa Wood of Lanett; two brothers, Johnny Wood of Woodland and Harold Wood of LaGrange, Ga.; and a sister, Faye Paschal of Valley. He was preceded in death by his son, Jonathan Wood.
