He retired from Duke Energy after 39 years as a power troubleman, served in the US Army during the Korean War, was a dedicated member of St.Cecilia Parish, and a member of Knights of Columbus Kehoe Council in Ludlow. Don loved sports and was active in Boone County golf leagues, bowling leagues, enjoyed coaching youth throughout his life, enjoyed his farm in his retirement, and hosting family reunions.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Betty Goetz, brothers, Jack and Paul Goetz, and sister Rita Biecker. Survivors include his wife of 61 years Kathleen"Tootsie"Benz Goetz; daughter Donna (Clinton "Gator") Spain of Covington; sons Mark Goetz of Edgewood, Andrew (Diane) Goetz of Ft. Mitchell, and David Goetz of Morning View; sisters Adele Steinhilber of Kenwood, OH, Betty Byrne of Lakeside Park, Teresa Mueller of Highland Heights, and Marilyn (Jim) Overly of Edgewood; grandchildren Don, Mike, Amy, Adam, Aaron, Danielle, Carla, Marty, Randy, and Johnny; great-grandchildren Owen, Rylan, and Kensey; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at St.Cecilia Church in Independence, Saturday, June 21, 2014 from 9:30 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. Burial will be at St.Cecilia Cemetery.
