Andrew F. Harrison, known to his friends and family as Andy, 81, passed away Thursday, June 12, 2014 in Charlotte, NC. He was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA and was a 1950 graduate of Lehman-Jackson Joint High School. Andy graduated from Tidewater Community College, with honors, Phi Theta Kappa in 1975, being the first in his family to graduate college. He was a Staff Sergeant with the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. Andy was employed with General Electric and Thomson Electronics for over 30 years. He also volunteered at local hospitals in Virginia and North Carolina after his retirement until the time of his passing. Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf and visiting his children and grandchildren. More than anything though, Andy enjoyed helping others in need, and was known to be able to fix almost anything.
He was predeceased by his parents, Roscoe and Laura (Sites) Harrison and three siblings, Naomi, Nora and Howard. Andy is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Vivian (Spensieri) Harrison; three children, Linda (Tom) Fitzgerald; Raine Harrison and John Harrison; two grandchildren, Ryan Midnight and Grace Harrison; a brother, Roscoe (Marion) Harrison, Jr., and his sister, Donna Bennett, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. A funeral service in celebration of Andrew's life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME, 3401 Vickery Road (corner of Buckley Rd.) North Syracuse, NY. Entombment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery Mausoleum, Syracuse. Family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at the THOMAS J. PIRRO JR. FUNERAL HOME.
