Sondra Davis, 67, of Stamford, joined the angels in heaven Monday, June 16, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Stamford with Rev. Darrell Marion and Dr. Jacob West officiating. Burial will follow at the Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home of Stamford. The family will be receiving friends at Tankersley Funeral Home (807 S. Columbia Street) on Wednesday from 6 until 8 p.m. Sondra Jo Fought was born August 16, 1946 in Haskell, Texas to Sam Joe and Mary Lou Fought. She was a lifetime resident of the area. She began school at Paint Creek and transferred to Haskell early in her elementary school years. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1964. On July 17, 1965 Sondra married the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, Gary Wayne Davis. This marriage was blessed with a son Jeff. Sondra and Gary have been residents of Stamford since 1975, moving here from Lubbock, TX. Sondra was a very diligent volunteer worker, serving as member of the Stamford Music Club, and as a Cub Scout leader. Sondra was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Stamford where she endlessly donated her talents teaching Sunday school for 4 years, teaching the children's choir for 25 years, teaching each year in the Vacation Bible School program, She kept the attendance records for the Sunday School Departments, attended the Builders Dorcas Sunday school class and was a loyal prayer chain coordinator. Sondra was a faithful servant of kindness providing snacks from the Sonic for the church secretaries at least 2 or 3 times a week. She was a Mary Kay cosmetic representative for several years. Left to cherish her memories are her husband of almost 49 years, Gary Davis of Stamford, her son, Jeff Davis and wife, Mary of Azle, TX, 2 grandsons, Evan Seibert and Tyler Seibert, both of Azle, TX, 1 brother in law, Rodney Davis and wife Judy of Las Cruses, New Mexico. 1 niece, Pamela Porter, and 1 nephew, Patrick Davis, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family requests that memorials be made to the First Baptist Church, P. O. Box 24, Stamford, Texas
