Dorothy was born in Storm Lake on September 18, 1937, the daughter of Elmer and Irene (Bjorklund) Andersen. She attended school in Varina, Newell, Sac City, and graduated from Rembrandt Consolidated School in 1955. After graduation, she attended trade school in Omaha, Nebraska.

On March 24, 1961, Dorothy was united in marriage to Roger Christiansen at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell, Iowa. They lived in the Storm Lake area. Dorothy and her husband enjoyed trips and winters in Arizona. She enjoyed very much her kids and grandchildren's activities.

Dorothy was employed at the ASCS office, Alco, Storm Lake School Administration office, Popcorn Store, Buena Vista College, and Faith, Hope, and Charity. She also was involved and worked in her husband's business, Commercial Sign & Design.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Roger Christiansen; four children: Tracy (Larry) Klataske of Pella, Iowa; Barry Christiansen of Corydon, Iowa; Julie (Kevin) Lenzine of Chariton, Iowa; Curtis (Heather) Christiansen of Newell, Iowa; 15 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law: Mark (Carol) Christiansen of Omaha, Nebraska; Marjorie (Jerry) Raper of Asheville, North Carolina; Jeanette Bircher of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; Ann Monroe of Sioux City, Iowa; and Ralph (Jane) Christiansen of Fonda, Iowa; aunt, Jeanette Johnson of Laurens, Iowa; many nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; parents-in-law; one sister; two brothers; and a sister-in-law.
