MIchael was the first born son of Eddie Steve Spann and Carol Christine Cunningham. He had 1 older sister, Terri Spann of Peoria IL and 1 younger brohter, Mathew Spann of Springfield IL.
He was a member of the Springfield Police Explorer Post #326 and an Illinois Jaycee. He was a Cardinal Fan, a Nascar (Dale Jarrett #88) Fan and a true patriot. He also enjoyed redneck jokes and farming.
Micheal underwent a heart trsansplant at the age of 15 in 1988. He was the second longest heart transpolant survior in the United States at the time of his death.
