RIDGELEY,WEST VIRGINIA -- Emma Catherine DeStefano, 81, of Ridgeley, died Wednesday, Dec.10, 2008 at WMHS-Braddock Campus.

Born Oct. 7, 1927 in Pekin, she was the daughter of the late Anthony "Tony" Bostjancic and Emma Elizabeth (Brown) Bostjancic.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Aniello "Joe" DeStefano, in 1989; two brothers; and four sisters.

Mrs. DeStefano was a homemaker and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.

Survivors include her son, Stephen J. DeStefano Sr. and wife Mary, Cumberland; three daughters, Bonnie L. Shanaberger and husband Todd, Baltimore, Theresa M. Christ, Frostburg and Patricia C. Ritchie and husband David, Warminster, Pa.; two sisters, Thelma Blank and Glenrose McCutcheon; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Upchurch Funeral Home, P.A., 202 Greene St., Cumberland, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Saturday at 10 a.m. with Fr. Prakash Sebastian officiating.

Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen DeStefano Jr., Mike DeStefano, Henry Long, Billy Long, Eddie Long and William Twigg.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 182 N. Mechanic St., Cumberland, MD 21502.
