Services for Troy Don Dixon are scheduled for 11:00 am Wednesday June 18, 2014 at Roberts Funeral Home Chapel in Healdton, Ok. Interment will follow at Dixie Cemetery. Officiating will be Jamie Griffin.

Troy was born to Esther Bell O'dell and Jerry Penten Dixon on September 22, 1931 in Oklahoma City. He was one of eight children; Carmela, P.J., Nancy, Eullah, Bobby, Sue, and James.

He departed this life Saturday June 14, 2014 at his home in Fox.

Troy's father Jerry Dixon worked for Sinclair oil company during the oil boom, moving his family to St. Louis, Ok. in 1940, then to the New Lina area in 1945, then finally moving four miles north of Healdton in 1949 on their farm they owned since 1931.

Troy entered Fox High School graduating in 1952, drilling rigs, working in the oil field and farming during the summer.

He married Dorothy Dean Elkins on July 14, 1952 and continued drilling rigs until he joined the army on November 4, 1952 serving two years in the Korean War in the 8th Army Field Artillery "204" I Corp Division.Returning home he went to work for Signal Oil and Gas Gasoline plant at Fox, Ok.

Troy turned his life over to Jesus Christ and was baptized and joined the Ratliff City Baptist Church in 1955, later moving his membership over to the Fox Baptist Church in 1957. Starting their family when Dorothy gave birth to their daughter Teresa Donette on September 23, 1955, then Susan Ann on March 20, 1958, then Dennis Dean on October 30, 1960. They built a new house five and a half miles north of Healdton in 1957 and lived their for 57 years, retiring from Phillips Oil Company on February 1, 1991 where he worked in the Fox Gasoline Plant and Field for 37 years. After retiring he was still very active in farming, ranching and was an active member and loved working in his church. After retirement he and Dorothy enjoyed going to horse races in Shreveport, also enjoyed 7 cruises and bus trips. They spent a lot of time at Lake Murray water skiing and fishing. They love vacationing and some of their travels include 2 trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Washington DC, Baton Rouge, La, the Bahama's and Haiti.

Troy is survived by his wife Dorothy of the home; 1 son; Dennis Dixon and wife Cyndee Williams of Lone Grove; 2 sisters; Eullah Jeffers of Borger, Tx.; Sue Jackson of Houston, Tx; 1 brother; James Dixon of Muskogee, Ok.; 6 grandchildren and 15 great granchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 daughters; Teresa Tayar and Susan Emerson; 2 sisters; Carmella Miller; Nancy Gilbreath; 2 brothers; P. J. Dixon and Bobby Dixon.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Frank Carter, Jade Emerson, Larry Emerson, Kevin Dixon, Bobby Williams, Jason Conway, Jacob Rose.
