The following info. came from research in Carter Co. Kentucky. Early settlers of Lee Country, VA and adjacent counties, Vol. II by Hattie Byrd Muncy Bales, page 798.
"Thomas Gilbert, most likely the eldest son of Joseph since he was named first in Joseph's will, was received as a member of the Thompson Settlement Church, October 20, on Saturday, 1810. February 27, 1810 Abner Barnett and Comfort, his wife, of Lee County conveyed fifty aacres of land, lying on the north side of Powell River, the same tract Barnett purchased from Champ Hamblen, 14 February 1804, to Thomas Gilbert of Lee County for $500. (DBK 2-284)."
