Catherine Elizabeth Uhl, a wonderful and loving wife, Mother,Grandmother and friend died June 12, 2014.

She was born in San Antonio, Texas on November 25, 1921 to Udo F. Kurka and Mary Irene O'Conner.

She married Earl Henry Uhl on August 30, 1940 and love brought forth four strong and amazing children: Robert Earl, Michael Allen, Terrance Patrick (Pete), and Catherine Anne.

Catherine is survived by her son Pete (wife Sandra), sister Jacqueline Wroten, sister-in-law Betty Kurka, brothers Herbert Avallone and Eddie Avallone, grandchildren Robbie Rihn, Aaron Uhl, Christopher King, Tim Blum, Brandi Stanton, Kacey Uhl, Emily Uhl, ten great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Catherine was preceded in death by her parents, sister Barbara Kurka, brother Charles Kurka, daughter Catherine Anne Akers, sons Robert Earl and Michael Allen and her husband of 63 years Earl Henry Uhl.

After retiring from USAA, Catherine and Earl moved to Rockport, Texas where family and friends were always welcome. The Uhl's coast home was always filled with family, grandkids, friends and laughter. In 1992 they moved from Rockport to Kirby, Texas. She enjoyed her years as an Air Force wife, making friends at every base where they were stationed, and Kirby Senior Center was her favorite place to be. She had a wonderful husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends that she loved very much and was so proud of. She will be truly missed.

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2014 from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 beginning at 12:30 P.M. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 2829 Ackerman Rd in Kirby. Following the service, Catherine will be laid to rest with her husband Earl, at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
