He was repatriated here in 1949. The newspaper article was dated prior to his remains being returned to the US. The article also has his enlistment year wrong. Charles served as a Private First Class in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He resided in Lewis County, New York prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on January 3, 1942 in Utica, New York and was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being Single, without dependents.

Charles died in the "Line Of Duty" of a "Non Battle" related incident in the New Guinea area during the war.
