Earl F. Abel Sr., 89, of 1191 Salineville Rd. NE, Carrollton, died Thursday evening in the Carroll Healthcare Center after a five month illness. He was born September 10, 1891, in Loudon Township, a son of the late John and Mary Louella (Crim) Abel. Mr. Abel is a retired farmer and was a member of Carrollton First Presbyterian Church, where he taught the Ault Sunday School Class for 40 years.
He is survived by a son, Earl F. Abel Jr. of 1191 Salineville Rd. NE, Carrollton; a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Ruth) Rowland of Westlake, Ohio; two grandchildren; one great-grandson, and three step-children, Harold White and Mrs. Carl (Lois) Maple, both of Carrollton, and Mrs. Ted (Ruth Ann) Harris of Minerva. His first wife, the former Pearl Roudebush, died in 1945 and his second wife, the former Ethel White, died in 1973. A brother, Paul, is also deceased. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Sweeney-Dodds Funeral Home in Carrollton with rev. John Visser officiating. Burial was in Westview Cemetery, here.
