John Randolph Cubberley, 81 years of age, one of the best-known residents of Mercer County, died last night from the result of injuries sustained when he fell downstairs at his home at Robbinsville, near Hamilton Square. Death was due to concussion of the brain, brought on by his fall.
Mr Cubberley leaves a widow and one daughter, who is the wife of Timbrook Stout of Hazlet, Monmouth County. He made his home with two of his grandchildren.
The deceased was one of the highly esteemed residents of Washington Township. He was a son of the late David W Cubberley, and was born in the old homestead more than eighty-one years ago. He had lived in the same house ever since.
Mr Cubberley filled many positions of trust and was collector of taxes for Washington Township for sixteen years. He was also a member of the Hamilton Square Grange. He was a member of the old school Baptist Church at Hopewell.
He was a descendant of the early settlers, his remote ancestor, James Cubberley, having located here nearly 200 years ago.       The fine old mansion where John Randolph Cubberley was born was built by his grandfather and bears the date 1801.
The funeral will be held Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock. Services will be conducted at the house. Interment will be made in Hightstown Cemetery, under the direction of W T Saul of Hamilton Square.
