MRS. ANNA SMITH FUNERAL HELD
Funeral services were held from the Methodist church here at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon for Mrs. Anna Smith, wife of Andrew Smith, who died suddenly at her home three miles east of here Friday morning. REV. C. M. VanMarter officiated and burial was made in Wynooche cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was one of the earliest pioneers of Grays Harbor county, having come to Montesano 71 years ago as a baby with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Medcalf. She was born at Grand Mound where the main settlement of the covered wagon pioneers was at that time and was 10 months old when coming to Montesano. Her entire life had been spent here. She was a lifelong member of and worker in the Methodist church.
Beside her husband Mrs. Smith is survived by one son, Oscar of Aberdeen, and three daughters, Mrs. Warren Wood of Montesano; Mrs. John Schafer of Schafers' Camp 1, and Mrs. Laura Bilyeu of Elma. She was also related by blood or marriage to most of the earlier pioneer families of this section.
