Marlys Joann (Anderson) Bryant, the daughter of Chester and Gunvor (Ness) Anderson, was born December 17, 1942, in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 69.
She received her education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School. After graduation Marlys attended Waldorf College majoring in social work.
On February 16, 1963, Marlys was united in marriage to Gale Bryant at Wallingford Lutheran Church in Wallingford, Iowa. After the couple's marriage they made their home in Estherville. They began raising their family and Marlys was a homemaker. Later she went to work for Dr. R.P. Bose in Estherville. Then she was employed at the Good Samaritan Center for many years. Then she left the workforce to return to being a stay at home mom. Gale died June 3, 2003. In her leisure time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and watching television. A special pleasure in Marlys' life was enjoying fellowship and "coffee time" with friends at the apartment complex where she lived.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Estherville.
Marlys is survived by three sons, Jeff Bryant of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Tim Bryant and his wife, Penny of Sioux Falls; Paul Bryant of Estherville; thirteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Helen Bryant of Estherville; sister-in-laws, Betty Wells of Estherville; JoAnn Prange and her husband, Loren of Overland Park, Kansas; brother-in-law, Larry Bryant and his wife, Cassie of Estherville and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Marlys in death were her husband; one son, Kevin who died April 29, 1999; one great-grandchild; her parents and brother, Lloyd.
