Thomas Dain Dies; Hamilton Lumber Dealer
Thomas Avery Dain of Hamilton; 63, prominent lumber dealer and a director of Poughkeepsie Hospital, died yesterday in Hamilton after a long illness. He was president and treasurer of the Thomas A. Dain Lumber Co. of Hamilton and former secretary of Dain's and Sons Lumber Co. of Poughkeepsie. Mr. Dain was also a former director of the Westchester National Bank of Poughkeepsie and was also a trustee of Poughkeepsie Military Academy. Born in Peekskill Feb. 3, 1894. Mr. Dain was a graduate of Peekskill Military Academy and he also attended Dartmouth College. He served overseas in the American Field Service attached to the French Army during World War 1, and was a member of the Peekskill American Legion Post. Mr. Dain is survived by his wife, the former Katherine B. Bross; two sons, Thomas A. Dain of Syracuse and Crawford M. Dain of Hamilton; one brother; John W. Dain of Mahopac and one sister, Mrs. William Seymour of Poughkeepsie. The funeral will be held today at 8:30. a.m. from the residence, 21 West Pleasant St., Hamilton, and at 9 a.m. from St. Mary's Church, Hamilton, where Rev Leonard Friez will officiate. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Peekskill.
