OBITUARY: Funeral services for Mrs. Nannie Howell Grimes, 86, were held Wednesday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Larue County. Burial was in the family cemetery. Rev. Charlie Warren and Rev. L. B. Cantrell were in charge of the services. Mrs. Grimes, a native of Taylor County, died at her home near Attilla on Monday, June 28 at 7:30 p.m. Daughter of the late Sam Howell and Mrs. Mary Young Howell, she was born June 14, 1868. Professing faith in Christ at an early age in life, she was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church. She united in marriage to J. C. Grimes 52 years ago. He preceded her in death in November, 1923. Survivors are two sons, Sam Grimes and Robert Grimes, both of Larue County; one step-son, Virgil Grimes, also of Larue County; eight grandchildren and many other relatives and friends

In the 1930 LaRue County Census, Buffalo Distr., Nannie Grimes was family 57. She was 62 years old and a widow. Living with her were two sons; Sammie, 25; and Robert, 23. Both single.

Mrs. Grimes, a native of Taylor County, died at her home near Attilla on Monday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m.
Daughter of the late Sam Howell and Mrs. Mary Young Howell, she was born June 14, 1868. Professing faith in Christ at an early age in life, she was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
She united in marriage with J. C. Grimes 52 years ago. He preceded her in death in November, 1923. Survivors are two sons, Sam Grimes and Robert Grimes, both of LaRue County; one stepson, Virgil Grimes, also of LaRue County, eight grandchildren and many other relatives.
Pallbearers were Billy Grimes, Johnny Young, Woodrow Grimes, Ollie Grimes, Frank Grimes and Coy Morris.
