A native of Haywood County, he was a son of the late Henry and Daisy Miller Holcombe. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Davis; six brothers, Carroll, Roger, Roy, Alvin, Ray, and Hoyle Holcombe, and baby twins. Jimmy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maggie Valley where he served as deacon, chairman of the deacon board, Sunday School teacher, and member of various committees. He was also a member of the Sojourners Quartet.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dianna Bradshaw Holcombe of Maggie Valley; one daughter, Misty Holcombe Chandler and her husband, Kenny, of Canton; one grandson, Cade Mason Chandler; honorary family members, Clint Watkins, Carol Ray Launer and her husband, Ed, Erica Ray, Kolten Davis Hunt, James Edwin Launer, and Randy Evans; four sisters, Ellen Warren of Canton, Lucille Parham of Asheville, Mary Webb of Swannanoa, and Shirley Rogers of Waynesville; one brother, Charles Holcombe of Canton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011 in the Canton Chapel of Wells Funeral Home with the Reverend Ricky Mason officiating. Burial will follow at Morning Star Cemetery.
