She was born in Lockhart, Texas in 1932 to Ernest and Agnes Nixon.
Joyce is survived by her husband of 52 years, Brian Kirby; son, Brian Alan Kirby; daughters, Patria Baaser and Andrea Kiralyfi; and 8 grand children.
Joyce received her B.A. Degree from Texas Women's University. She designed six Miss America ballroom gowns, had her own custom design business and was named "Designer of the Year" in 1958. Joyce greatly enjoyed gardening, interior design, cooking, travel and was a loving mother and grandmother.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, June 16, 2014, 10:30 A.M. at Porter Loring Mortuary North, 2102 North Loop 1604 East. Interment will follow in Mission Burial Park North. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Gospel outreach of your choice. "To God be the Glory".
