RELLA MAY SIMS; the second child of Peter Harvey and Mary Jemima (Cook) Sims, born at Waterloo, Ontario in 1877. She married JOHN ROSS STEWART at Toronto, Ontario in 1907. ROSS, a native of Uxbridge, Ontario, first entered the Insurance business in 1904 when he joined the staff of the Canadian Fire Underwriters‘ Association. He later became Inspector in Western Ontario for the Royal Insurance Co., and in 1912 joined the Aetna Insurance Company as special agent for that area of Canada from Nova Scotia to Manitoba.
ROSS and RELLA were the parents of one son:
PETER ROSS STEWART
In 1923, the family moved to Hartford, Connecticut, where ROSS was Assistant Secretary of Aetna, and in 1927, he became Secretary of Aetna and of the World Fire and In 1929, he became Assistant Secretary of and was made appointed Marine Insurance Co. Secretary of Century in 1932. In 1933, he was Vice-President of the Aetna Companies. Active in civic and social affairs in Hartford, Ross Stewart was a member of the Hartford Golf Club and the Civitan Club. At Hartford, he joined Asylum Hill Congregational Church, and served as Deacon there for six years. He died at West Hartford, Connecticut in 1940, and Rella in 1947. Both are buried in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford, Connecticut.
