The body of a 73 year-old woman was found this morning in the pond of City Park. City police attributed the death of MRS EVA LENA EVANS, 422 Mitchell Ave, to drowning. She was pronounced dead at 8:20 am.

Mrs. Evans had been reported missing to police yesterday afternoon. She was last seen walking along Mitchell Ave about 5:15 pm.

Dr E W Ditto said she died about 6 pm yesterday. There was no evidence of foul play. A few bruises were noted on Mrs. Evans head. These supposedly were caused from the fall into the water. She was fully clothed.

The body was found by Robert Farrell, park custodian, about 45 feet from the north entrance to the park. The body had been in about 3 feet of water all night. Police reported they had searched the West End of the city in search of Mrs. Evans last night.
