Edward P. Kordek, 79, of Ashley Lane, Wilkes-Barre, died Saturday at Riverstreet Manor, Wilkes-Barre.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on April 6, 1918, he was son of the late Konstanty and Mary Casper Kordek.

He attended Meyers High School.

He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the European and North African Theaters.

He was employed for many years as a furrier by Brandstadter Furs, Wilkes-Barre, Balut's Furs and Stein's Furs.

He was later employed as a tailor by J.C. Penney before retiring.

He was a member of St. Aloysius Church, Wilkes-Barre.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, the former Florence Stanko, in April 1997; and sisters Loecadia Marusak and Jean Neid.

Surviving are her son, Edward P. Kordek Jr., Mountaintop; daughter Mrs. Paul (Carol) Charneski, Wilkes-Barre; three grandchildren; brother Joseph Kordek, Ashley; sister Mrs. Steffie Conklin, Hanover Township; and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, Park Avenue and South Street, Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Aloysius Church.

Interment will be in the St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
