JOHN M. "JACK" BUESE, age 91, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004, 6:36 p.m. in the comfort of his home, with family at his side, while under the care of B.J.C. Hospice Program. Born August 19, 1912 in Alton, He was the son of the late John L. & Mayme (Pieper) Buese.

A 1930 graduate of Marquette Catholic High School in Alton, he later attended the American Academy of Art in Chicago, Illinois. He proudly served his country in the United States during World War II, and a member of Alton Painters Union Local # 471, He married Patricia Mary McCarthy on October 16, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alton where the family has remained long-time active members. A respected local Commercial Artist, he was employed for 43 years at Maguire Sign Company in Alton, and was known for his professional work, including the painting of the Piasa Bird.

In addition to his beloved wife of 50 years, he is also survived by: Son and Daughter in law: John F. and Debbie Buese of Swansea, Illinois Two Daughters and Sons in law: Catherine & Ralph Bechtold of Godfrey, Illinois Margaret "Polly" and Gregg Clabaugh of Camargo, Illinois 6 Grandchildren: Megan Buese, John M. "Jack" Buese, Kellie Bechtold, Michael Bechtold, Jacob Bechtold, Alison Clabaugh, 2 Step-Grandchildren: Becky Clabaugh, Chuck Clabaugh & his Wife Sarah A Step-Great Grandchildren: Madeline Clabaugh 2 Brothers: Victor P. Buese and his close friend Margie Redmond of Alton, Illinois Bernard F. Buese and his wife Roma of Champaign, Illinois Other Extended Family and Many Friends. He was also preceded in death by a Sister: Catherine Buese O'Neill, and preceded in death by a sister in law: Nonie Buese.

VISITATION will be Friday, January 30, 2004, 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at STATEN-FINE Funeral Home, 220 Court Street in Alton. A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Saturday, January 31,2004 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 4th and Henry Street in Alton, with Father Chris Uhls, O.M.V. as the Celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Alton. For those desiring, memorials may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Capital Fund, Masses, or to the B.J.C. Hospice Program of Alton.
